Why the Minn-FIN?  At a very young age, walleye learn to feed on minnows such as emerald shiners, bluntnose minnows, flatheads, daces, etc.  This feeding behaviour is imprinted into young walleye and is carried throughtout their lives.  As adult walleye migrating into the Detroit River to spawn, they are keenly aware of minnows as a food sources and will take the opportunity to replenish their energy throughout the spawn.  However, walleye also react to contrasting colors as they become more aggressive and territorial while spawning.
